Back Lane Woods Improvement Project

The Parish Council began a project early in 2020 to improve the woodland at Back Lane.at an overall cost of £60,000. This has been funded from the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Many of the improvement works have been completed. These include, upgrading the network of paths to improve accessibility, to install pond dipping platforms, and the creation of an outdoor classroom facility. Work will be continuing to survey the flora and fauna in the woodland,  information boards will be installed, work will be carried out to rid the woodland of invasive non native flora, bird and bat boxes will be installed around the woodland and the wetland area will be improved with further planting. The woodlands are managed by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Parish Council.
